Fanning the fire midweek, we are tossing you a spontaneous quote, question, or conundrum related to Monday’s post. We invite you to riff on this prompt or share a story—heartbreaking or hilarious—to spark further conversation about the path of motherhood.
My friend Ashley, who has appeared in this blog before, is the embodiment of radical life force. In addition to her incredible blessingway, she also had a belly dancing ball, to celebrate, through movement, the beauty of the feminine. It was amazing to be a part of such a powerful celebration—and affirmation—of the rhythms that we dance during our lifetime.
I loved paying tribute to mothering, sisterhood, birth, and babies through movement. It was such a gorgeous, transparent conversation of the heart.
I hope you take the time to watch this snippet I filmed of the incredible belly dance blessing day. If you listen carefully, you will hear our fearless leader Ixeeya talking about life force. She asks us to notice what body part Ashley awakens in each one of us, and then suggests letting Ashley move us with her birthing journey.
Dear Ashley—she does awaken the life force in us. She’s the type of sister you want to be splendid for, not grungy. She invites us all to recognize ourselves as the goddess gloriously but humanly incarnate, and then shows us, with each hip undulation, how to welcome that presence—not hide it.
Here are more photos from that special day that made us all feel a quickening in our bellies, an opening in our hearts, a lightness in our feet.
Thank you Ashley for taking us all with you to the veil—and back.
We welcome with love Tallulah Joy.
