Fanning the fire midweek, we are tossing you a spontaneous quote, question, or conundrum related to Monday’s post. We invite you to riff on this prompt. Or, take a walk on the wild side, and share a story of wisdom, hilarity, or heartbreak to spark further conversation about the path of motherhood. This is a space to talk amongst ourselves—so gather round the hearth, warm your hands, and bare your soul.

I love this blessing that I first heard when Snatam Kaur sang it in a concert—I think I was pregnant with Oriah.

Mother’s Blessing – La Bendición De Tu Madre
Words of Bibi Bani, wife of Guru Ram Das the Fourth Guru of the Sikhs

Oh my child this is your mother’s blessing.
May you never forget God, even for a moment
Worshipping forever the Lord of the universe.
Remembering God, all mistakes are washed away.
And one’s ancestors are redeemed and saved.
Always chant God’s Name, Har Har
God is inside you, God is Infinite.
May the True Guru be kind to you
May your clothing be the protection of God.
May your food be the singing of God’s Praise.
Drink the nectar of God’s Name and live long.
May meditation on God bring you endless bliss.
May love be yours and your hopes fulfilled.
May you never be worn by worry.
Let this mind of yours be the bumble bee.
And let the Lotus Feet of God be the flower.
Oh Servant Nanak, link your mind in this way.
Like the sparrow hawk finding a raindrop, blossom forth.

One of my favorite lines is “May you never be worn by worry.” Such a good reminder that something much bigger than us guides our lives.
What are some of the ways that you remember God in your hectic, busy life?
