We believe a calling like mothering, which haphazardly blends the transcendent with the tedious, warrants a little extra oracular guidance (see The Deck) and a deep well of inspiration. On Friday, we invoke the muse of motherhood be she poet, artist, dancer, musician, thinker, or dreamer. Wishing you all an inspired weekend!

I am a water girl, drawn in awe to the ocean and rivers like a moth to holy flames. Water’s divine nature purifies and revives any tired soul who pauses along her shores or takes the plunge into her body. Given the week’s call to surrender, I am inspired to follow this prompt from The Mother’s Wisdom Deck and make a pilgrimage to the water for a ‘letting go’ ritual:

When you find yourself in a moment that calls for surrender but cannot give up the fight, return to River. Submerge yourself, feel the water wash away your resistance and emerge renewed. Find a stick, a leaf, or other symbolic token that represents something that you are ready to release. Surrender it to the river. Each act of surrender, no matter how small, brings us closer to the Source.

River Ritual

Anyone care to join? We’ll look for each other in the middle of the river and celebrate!
